West Yas Academy opened its doors to staff, students and parents in August 2016 and was judged by ADEK to be a high performing, ‘Band A – Good’ school with very good features in our first year of operation. Relationships with our parents and the community is a key strength which serves to compliment the tremendous commitment and dedication of our staff. Our students are at the heart of everything we do.The school has been founded on our five core values; excellence, respect, collaboration, creativity and passion.

For the academic year 2017-18, we will offer classes from Kindergarten 1 to Grade 7. Currently, the school is organised into three phases: Kindergarten, Elementary, and Middle School. Our academic program is based on the Massachusetts Curriculum which is a rigorous curriculum, based on common core standards. West Yas Academy deliver this curriculum through the Inquiry Approach.

Inquiry is an effective and dynamic process where students make connections across the subject groups of Physical Science, Social Science, History, Numeracy, Literacy, Arabic Dimension, The Arts and Physical Education, to know and understand the world. Inquiry allows the student to engage, think, create and be active in their learning and actions, providing opportunities for students to investigate, pose and solve problems, discover and test these discoveries.

At West Yas, we actively embraces the UAE national agenda to promote innovation through science, technology and engineering. Ensuring students’ appreciation of the history, heritage, culture and future vision of the UAE and their understanding of Islamic values is also core to the work of the school.

The school also places a strong emphasis on health and sport.

In acknowledgement of our commitment to innovation and technology and health and sport, the school has been awarded Microsoft Showcase School Status and has been recognised as the 2017 Best Sports Facility – New Comer in the UAE Teen Sports & Fitness Awards.
